Composed of vast wilderness made up of valleys and mountain ranges including the world-renowned Rocky Mountains, the diversity of the Kootenay Columbia region has attracted film for many years and has been the location of choice for such films as Steve Martin’s Roxanne, Bill Forsythe’s Housekeeping and Snow Falling On Cedars. Most recently the city of Rossland was the backdrop for Lake Placid in the movie “Miracle” starring Kurt Russell.
